Description
This workshop begins with a discussion of the two forms of landscape we will be shooting during this two-day workshop: traditional landscapes (e.g. the desert, seascapes, and so on), which we will be shooting on day one, and urban landscapes: our subject matter for day two. In both cases we will be concentrating on those factors that contribute towards the creation of a great shot, i.e. composition, lighting, perspective, focal point, and so on.
In addition to these aesthetic concerns, we will also discuss some of the common technical problems that can arise when out in the field; e.g. determining an optimum exposure, avoiding blown highlights, controlling depth of field, subject movement, perspective, and so on. In both shooting sessions you will be free to choose your subject matter, but there will also be a number of creative briefs that you can draw upon if you get stuck for inspiration.
Following this discussion we will head out into the field to shoot your first set of images.
Day two begins with a brief summary of the previous day's shoot, followed by a discussion and brief for the second shooting session: urban landscapes.
In the final part of the workshop we will return to the lab to work through a number of post-production techniques you can use to enhance your images. This will include a detailed discussion of how best to use Camera RAW to convert your RAW files, through to a discussion of their subsequent post-production in Photoshop.
