Joey shares his unique approach to lighting and Photoshop, and also provides a window into the business of the current photography industry that he broke into at the age of 16.

Joey will share insights into what it’s like having gone from the bottom to the top of an exclusive trade, and explains both the technical and personal skills one must develop to arrive there.

Detailing experiences ranging from a Forbes assignment in New York, to the jungles of Ethiopia, Sessions gives you the tools necessary to bring out and expose your own style to a wider audience and client base. Through Joey’s diverse and extensive demonstrations and, Joey will shows that circumstance is not a factor and that these skills can be learned by all.

DAY 1

9am: Class begins
This section is based on lighting theory. Leave all your technical jargon at home, and let's talk about making light translate in your image. A photographer without a vision is simply a mathematician. Photography is technical as much as it is artistic, but both sides must be both fully understood to create memorable images. The group will go over the lighting techniques Joey uses on his own shoots, and how to get a cinematic quality out of studio lights.

The group can dissect Joey's past photo shoots and learn how to fully bring out creative vision using lighting techniques.

12:00-1:00pm - Lunch break

1:00-3:30pm - Photoshop
Push and fine-tune your lighting to a new plateau with some of Joey's home-grown photoshop recipes.
Joey will be demonstrating his Photoshop tutorials and students are encouraged but not required to bring their own laptops if they like. This is not a lab session.

3:30-4.30pm
Open discussion, questions and answers, and business chat

DAY 2
In Day 2, Joey will lead the group on location and you can put your skills to the test in the field. The group will experiment with a few different light setups with models. It's a great opportunity to watch Joe in action and try out the different lighting techniques yourself.
After the shoot, the group comes back into the classroom to dissect the experiences of the location shoot and a wrap up of the workshop.
