This dynamic lighting workshop is designed to help you master the use of strobe lighting to achieve outstanding portraits. This class in intended to increase your lighting skills by using a variety of lighting equipment and experimenting with styles and techniques.

We demonstrate a variety of techniques: multiple light set ups, bounced light, high key and low key lighting, and beauty dishes.

The photograph is not about the technique, but when you increase your array of “tools”, you can expand the possibilities of characterization. The quality and direction of light, matched with our subject and composition, defines the overall effect of the image, whether it’s soft and warm or bold and graphic. We learn how to “paint” the portrait by utilizing a variety of modifiers to create dramatic and unique photographs. By developing our skills with various techniques we can unlock our creative instincts and make evocative and powerful images that speak of the subject’s essence.

This intermediate class is for those with basic lighting skills who want to expand their techniques to create better portraits. Participants must be familiar with strobe lighting and umbrellas, soft boxes and grids.
