Workshop Description
The beauty of available light is that it's everywhere. Any time of day and any situation can be turned into a great opportunity for environmental portraits. The only photographic accessories we use are reflectors and diffusers.
This workshop will help develop your ability to "see" the quality of light and apply it to real people. We don't scout locations, we scout light and make the location work. To create our interpretive portraits using available light, we work with an understanding and awareness of how critical the direction as well as the quality of the light is to the subject.
We put our people in the light, critically aware of the direction as well as the quality, paying attention to the background and selective focus to help tell the story. The emphasis is on utilizing all of our tools (light, tonality, composition, and color) to effectively communicate our ideas visually.
We will shoot on location with models using hard, soft, bounced, reflected and diffused light.
