How to Use Your Flash
Description
Confused about your flash?
Then this is the class for you. In this one-day workshop, participants will learn how to control and modify their portable flash units. The first topic is the hardware, including all the buttons and dials. Next is how theflash works and the different exposure methods. There are two primary ways to use a flash; as a main light source when you are in a low light situation, and as a fill-flash for when you are trying to lighten the shadows from the existing ambient light.
The flash as a main light by itself is harsh, so we will demonstrate various light modifiers to soften and control the light. We will also demo bouncing off the ceiling, reflectors and through diffusers. Fill flash can be confusing and complicated but it will be explained and demonstrated including various methods of diffusing and various lighting ratios. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot after each demo so that they can use the techniques immediately.
Please bring your camera and flash manual, and any accessories that you have.
