Blue Skie'd and Clear - Expanding the photographic horizon
Carbon 12 - Al Quoz
Running from June 10th to Sept 25th, 2010

"Blue Skie'd and Clear" is a group exhibition featuring photographic work of individual perspectives on the notion of the everyday, revealing the inherent power of the medium: no medium is as contemporary as photography, literally capturing time and space. The twisted perspectives and metaphorical power of Birgit Graschopf and Jamie Baldridge, the melancholic and playful lightness of Maria Maeser and Maximillian Pramatarov, the metaphysical exercises of turning the inside out of Hazem Mahdy and Yuko Ichikawa, they all reveal the personality of each style in its own context.

Summer Collection
XVA Gallery
Runs from June 13th - July 31st, 2010 and September 1st - 22nd, 2010

Experience Emirati artist Maitha Bin Demithan's dreamlike and poignant portraits. Indian-American Sameer Reddy weaves highly iconic images into fantastical photo-based works that are a nod to his heritage, offering commentary on the potent power of religious and mythical symbolism, and on a more personal level, the duality of his own cultural identity.  German Nikolai Wiezorek's photographs are an insightful visual narrative of Christmas time in Germany.

Sneak PostView
Green Art Gallery
Runs from June 22nd - Sept 25th, 2010

Nazif Topcuoglu works in the domain of constructed, staged photography, where everything is controlled. Rather than capture actual events, Nazif tends to create controlled events in which he allows small accidents to happen. Over the years, he has created a consistent body of work that predominantly features young girls set in period backdrops and engaged in a variety of symbolic actions and roles.
